Post a Comment 45 PARK LANE, London, United Kingdom
I visited the highly awaited opening of the 45 Park Lane. Besides The Connaught (only a few blocks away), 45 Park Lane is my favorite location to stay at in London.
My husband and I dined at the cut steakhouse, Wolfgang Puck’s first European restaurant. It was incredibly busy with well to do businessmen and women enjoying a pricier-than-usual power lunch. Being so new, service surely needs work, but I am positive it will prevail. The appetizers were really magnificent, but the steaks were not as unbelievable as you would think, coming from a celebrity chef; however, the champagne was cold, the wine was perfectly poured and the atmosphere was great, so I still considered it a great meal.
The bar on the mezzanine level is tiny, but intimate for those who knows it exists. The hotel’s design is evocative of designer Thierry Despont’s signature aesthetic, as seen at his work in New York’s Chatwal Hotel - both possessing a sense of British masculinity.
The penthouse, reasonably priced at the moment while the hotel is still new, has outdoor space that is stunning. The brown color scheme becomes a bit too washed out with the yellow sun pouring in through. I definitely think it can use a bit more color accents to break up the monotony of the dull brunette decor.
I do like the hotel, and wouldn’t mind staying there to truly envelope myself in the experience of it all to see if it makes more sense to me.
